Midtown Imaging Expansion Brings Upgrades
Directions in Design aids patient healing with residential design
ST. LOUIS, May 2007 – Midtown Imaging’s new Jupiter facility may be a stone’s throw from the Jupiter Medical Center, but the imaging facility’s atmosphere is far from clinical. St. Louis-based Directions in Design recently completed interior planning and construction for the radiology center, creating an inviting look and feel that puts patients at ease.
Designers integrated warm woods with a color palette of soft, warm tones to create a non-clinical, residential feel. The look was used throughout the entire center, including the staff rooms, lounge and manager’s office.
“When it comes to patient comfort and experience objective, we raised the bar in the design industry,” said Jane Ganz, president, Directions in Design. “By surrounding patients with a pleasant, residential environment, we are hoping to put them at ease during their visit.”
Employing antique bronze hardware and extensive moldings, Directions in Design kept in line with Midtown Imaging’s mission and theme for its facilities. The 3,870 square-foot Jupiter facility uses a multi-modality approach, offering patients a full range of oncological, muscular skeletal and neurological services. The comprehensive list of services includes CT scan, MRI, x-ray, mammograms, ultrasound, reading and a hot lab. Patients also can enjoy an inviting reception area, as well as a large waiting/dressing area and spacious restrooms.
“This transitional design is extremely comfortable and sets us apart as an imaging facility,” said Kevin Johnson, chief executive officer of Midtown Imaging. “The modalities and services we offer are greatly enhanced by the environment we provide. Our patients appreciate the fact that we put so much effort in to making them feel comfortable.”
